New Video Released: The Complete Creation Process of a Japanese Sword (Nihonto)
Unveiling the Creation of an “Omamori-Gatana”: A Year-Long Journey Captured with Five Master Artisans
Over the span of one full year, we filmed the complete, sacred creation process of a Japanese sword (Omamori-Gatana).
This extraordinary documentary brings together five master artisans at the absolute pinnacle of traditional Japanese craftsmanship: the Swordsmith (Tosho) who forged the blade, the Habaki Artisan (Hakuginshi) who fitted the blade collar with micron-level precision, the Scabbard Artisan (Sayashi) who carved the wooden enclosure, the Hilt Wrapper (Tsukamaki-shi) who bound the handle, and the Lacquerer (Saya-Nuri-shi) who applied the final, exquisite coat of natural lacquer. Together, their united mastery gives birth to a single supreme masterpiece.
We extends our deepest gratitude to the five master artisans whose dedication and wisdom made this filming possible.
Words alone cannot fully capture the quiet concentration, the intense breath of the masters, and the dramatic beauty of their sub-millimeter hand-craftsmanship. We invite you to experience this extraordinary journey through our high-definition video.
