【New Video】The Crafting Process of “WARI” — A Modern Fusion of Bamboo Craft and Urushi Lacquerware by cultureclub.design

The Crafting Process of “WARI”

We have just released a new video on our official YouTube channel. This time, we look closely at a collaborative project by cultureclub.design (a Kansai-based design studio), Nagaoka Meichiku (bamboo craft), and Makino Urushi (lacquerware).

The featured piece, “WARI,” is a contemporary three-dimensional artwork inspired by the traditional bamboo-splitting process. By splitting a single bamboo pole, bending it to utilize its natural flexibility, and reconnecting the components, they have reconstructed it into a functional piece of art furniture. With the raw texture of bamboo on the exterior and refined Urushi lacquer on the interior, this unique Japanese craft combines the strength of natural materials with a modern aesthetic.

cultureclub.design is a versatile design studio specializing in spatial design, furniture, and art objects. Please enjoy our video showcasing this innovative collaboration that brings modern design to traditional techniques. This recommended craft is available for custom orders worldwide.
